A New Lowe’s Is Headed to Denton County, Texas: Here’s What’s Planned ⋆ SprawlTag.com

Lowe’s is planning a new store along one of Denton County’s busiest commercial stretches. The store will be part of The Village at Cross Roads, a retail center anchored by Walmart and surrounded by a growing lineup of national chains.

According to filings with the state, the new store will span more than 107,000 square feet, consistent with full-scale Lowe’s locations across the country. It will serve both new and existing neighborhoods along US Highway 380, a corridor that’s been booming with development in recent years.

A New Anchor for an Expanding Center

The store is planned for a large, undeveloped parcel just west of Walmart. Its listed address is 11300 US Highway 380, positioned between Whataburger and several future retail pads. A site plan from Edge Realty shows Lowe’s taking up a significant portion of the western side of the development, with adjacent pads marked for a proposed bank, restaurants, and other businesses.

This area has become a magnet for commercial activity as more families move into eastern Denton County. Nearby communities like Aubrey, Savannah, and Little Elm are all within easy driving distance. The addition of Lowe’s provides another daily-use destination that complements the existing mix of food, service, and convenience retailers already in place.

From Wide-Open Land to a Regional Retail Hub

Historical imagery from 1958 shows this stretch of land as mostly pasture and fields, with little infrastructure aside from rural roads. There were no big-box stores, no multi-lane highways—just farmland divided into sections by long fence lines. In the decades since, Denton County has experienced rapid suburban expansion, and US 380 has become a critical east-west artery.

The Village at Cross Roads has steadily filled in with national brands. With the addition of Lowe’s, it takes another step toward becoming a full-service regional center, drawing shoppers from across the area. Construction timing hasn’t been confirmed, but state records show active planning is now underway.
