This Kroger in Fishers Has Officially Moved – How’s the New Location Holding Up?

Open Since January 2025

After much anticipation, Kroger opened its new Marketplace store on January 29, 2025, just across the street from its former location at Fishers Crossing. It replaced the aging store at 7272 Fishers Crossing Drive with a much larger and more modern facility at 7450 Fishers Station Drive. But several months in—how are things going?

A Modern Store With More to Offer

The new 120,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace has been a welcome upgrade for many local shoppers. Features like a Starbucks, Murray’s Cheese shop, apparel section, and a store-made popcorn café have given the store more of a one-stop-shop feel. A new fuel center opened on May 7, 2025, adding further convenience for regular customers (Current Publishing).

Kroger also made a notable impact at the grand opening, donating $70,000 to Second Helpings to fund approximately 41,000 meals in the Indianapolis area (Indiana Chamber).

How Are Customers Reacting?

Initial excitement has mostly held steady, but online reviews paint a mixed picture. On Yelp, many customers praise the variety and cleanliness of the new store, especially compared to its predecessor. However, a common complaint is understaffing, leading to slow checkouts and limited employee assistance during busy hours (Yelp).

On platforms like Reddit and local Facebook groups, shoppers have shared enthusiasm about the modern layout and larger selection. Still, others note that some shelves occasionally sit empty, especially on weekends, possibly reflecting the store’s growing pains as it scales up its operations.

Behind the Scenes: Employee Sentiment

According to reviews on Indeed, some employees have raised concerns about management practices, training, and inconsistent schedules. While the store has created over 300 jobs, not all feedback has been glowing—some cite stress from workload and lack of support (Indeed).

Still, Kroger now employs over 800 people in Fishers across its multiple operations, and its investment—reportedly totaling $38 million—has clearly added momentum to the area’s retail growth.

Location History

The new Kroger site did not have any development until the 90s. Aerial images of the area date back to the 1950s when it was farmland and Fishers had a population of less than 400. By 2021 the city had over 100,000 people.
