Pasadena, Texas Is Expanding Its Convention Center—Here’s What’s Included

The Pasadena Convention Center is undergoing a major expansion to transform the site into a larger, more versatile regional venue. Backed by $50 million in public funding, the project broke ground in early 2024 and includes both a new arena and renovations to the existing convention center.

What’s Being Built

A brand-new 110,000-square-foot multipurpose arena is the centerpiece of the project, offering permanent seating for up to 7,500 people. It’s being designed to host large-scale events such as concerts, graduations, sporting events, and conventions.

In addition, the original 43,000-square-foot convention center, built in 1983, is being upgraded. The renovation includes updated meeting rooms, modernized restrooms, interior finish improvements, and infrastructure enhancements.

Other site improvements include:

  • Expanded parking to support approximately 2,500 vehicles
  • Upgrades to lighting, electrical systems, and accessibility

New TDLR Filing and Timeline

A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) filing submitted in May 2025 describes 176,850 square feet of new construction, with a projected construction start date of July 2025 and completion by March 2027. This filing likely reflects a new phase in the project, specifically covering the arena buildout or other structural components.

A Longstanding Community Venue

Located at 7902 Fairmont Parkway, the Pasadena Convention Center has been a key local venue for over four decades. It has hosted countless events, including the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo, Strawberry Festival, and various trade shows and community programs.

Once the expansion is complete, the upgraded facility is expected to attract larger regional events and offer significantly improved amenities for residents and visitors.
