Smalls Sliders is bringing its first San Antonio location to 8743 State Highway 151. This marks the brand’s entry into the city as part of a larger plan to open 12 locations over the next six years. Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2025, with completion expected by July 2025.
What is Smalls Sliders?
Smalls Sliders was founded in 2019 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by restaurateur Brandon Landry and backed by former NFL quarterback Drew Brees. The brand specializes in cheeseburger sliders, served in a simple, fast, and efficient format. Unlike traditional burger chains, Smalls Sliders uses a compact modular design, resembling shipping containers, allowing for rapid expansion.
The chain has quickly grown across Louisiana, Texas, and other states, with over 300 locations planned or in development. It has been recognized as a fast-growing restaurant brand, featured in Nation’s Restaurant News’ “Breakout Brands” of 2023.
San Antonio’s First Smalls Sliders – Project Details
The new restaurant will follow the company’s signature modular format with:
- An 800 sq. ft. modular building, pre-fabricated offsite.
- A drive-thru pickup window for fast service.
- No indoor dining, prioritizing efficiency.
- A 900 sq. ft. covered patio with a walk-up pickup window for outdoor seating.
- A total 1,700 sq. ft. footprint.
Location and Surrounding Area
Located along TX-151 in Bexar County, the site is in a busy corridor near existing fast-food options like Raising Cane’s, Willie’s Grill & Icehouse, and Circle K. The highway access and surrounding retail developments make it a prime location for Smalls Sliders’ drive-thru-focused model.

Historical Background of the Site
A historical image from 1995 shows that the lot was undeveloped land, with TX-151 already present but surrounded by open fields. Over the years, commercial expansion has gradually reshaped the area, with businesses filling nearby lots. However, 8743 TX-151 remained vacant until 2025, when Smalls Sliders filed for construction.
What’s Next?
As part of a 12-location rollout in San Antonio, this first Smalls Sliders will set the tone for future openings. Another location is planned near Marbach Road, based on recent filings. With modular construction allowing for quick build-outs, the TX-151 location could be open by mid-2025.
