New McDonald’s Planned for This Gainesville Texas Intersection

A new McDonald’s may be coming to Gainesville, Texas, according to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The project is titled “MCD GRAND AVE & 82 – GAINESVILLE, TX,” indicating plans for a restaurant near the intersection of North Grand Avenue and US Highway 82.

The filing lists the proposed building as 3,785 square feet. Construction is expected to begin in September 2025 and be completed by January 2026. The estimated project cost is $1.5 million. It will be new construction on private land.

No exact address or parcel has been confirmed at this time.

Intersection of N Grand Ave and US 82

The intersection of North Grand Avenue and US Highway 82 is a major commercial area in Gainesville. Nearby businesses include Tractor Supply Co., CVS Pharmacy, Domino’s Pizza, Sherwin-Williams, and other local retailers.

While the area is mostly developed, an open lot sits at the northeast corner of the intersection. This site may be a potential candidate for the project, but the filing only specifies “near corner,” leaving the exact location unknown.

A review of historical aerial imagery shows the northeast corner has remained undeveloped for decades, even as surrounding properties transitioned to commercial use.

Project Status Still Uncertain

As of now, the McDonald’s project remains in the early planning stages. No site plans, building permits, or specific address details have been made public.

Project timelines listed in state filings are approximate and often subject to change. Construction may be delayed, revised, or canceled depending on permitting, land acquisition, or other factors.

No additional announcements have been made by McDonald’s or city officials regarding the project.
