A major new retail player is entering Sevier County. According to multiple sources, construction has officially begun at 639 Allensville Square Road, Sevierville, TN 37876, the future site of a BJ’s Wholesale Club. The project will bring the popular membership-based retailer to a fast-growing area known for tourism and residential expansion.
The upcoming club, BJ’s Wholesale #268, is expected to span approximately 102,444 square feet. On-site work has already begun, and sources indicate a late 2025 opening is likely.
A High-Visibility Location Near Sevierville’s Retail Core
The store sits just off Winfield Dunn Parkway (US-441), a critical commercial artery linking Sevierville to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Its neighbors include The Home Depot, Hobby Lobby, and PetSmart, positioning BJ’s within a well-established shopping district.
The site is part of the Allensville Square retail area, an expanding hub with nearby restaurants, service centers, and apartment complexes. With visibility from the Parkway and easy access to major roads, the new club will attract both local shoppers and tourists passing through.
Looking Back: From Open Fields to a Retail Boom
In the late 1990s, aerial imagery shows this land as undeveloped, with nearby areas consisting of fields and low-density residential lots. By 2005, Sevierville began seeing a wave of commercial investment along Winfield Dunn Parkway.
The property at Allensville Square remained untouched until the early 2020s. Then, in 2024, satellite imagery confirmed that grading and preparation had begun. The surrounding area had already transformed into a busy shopping corridor—one that continues to expand with new tenants and infrastructure.
The new BJ’s marks the latest milestone in a retail evolution that’s reshaped eastern Sevierville over the past two decades.
BJ’s Wholesale Club: A Brief Company Overview
BJ’s Wholesale Club started in 1984 in Massachusetts and has since grown to operate over 240 clubs across the Eastern U.S. and Midwest. The company offers bulk groceries, fresh foods, household items, electronics, and fuel services—all under a membership model.
This Sevierville location follows recent openings in La Vergne, Mount Juliet, Madison, and Maryville, making it BJ’s fifth store in Tennessee (newsroom.bjs.com).
