Taco Casa’s New Restaurant Opens Soon in Wylie TX

A new Taco Casa is coming to Wylie, Texas, at 2027 N State Highway 78. The project, scheduled to start in February 2025, is expected to be completed by February 2026. This new construction will bring a freestanding restaurant with a total area of 2,873 square feet to the rapidly developing region.

The location lies in Collin County, nestled along the busy stretch of State Highway 78. The immediate area, characterized today by modern commercial developments, has undergone significant transformations over the decades.

A Look Back: Evolution of the Site

1956: A Rural Landscape

Historical aerial imagery from 1956 reveals the area as a quiet expanse of agricultural land. State Highway 78, seen cutting through fields, was a modest rural route serving the local farming community. The site now occupied by Taco Casa was part of this sprawling agricultural landscape.

2001: Suburban Expansion Begins

By 2001, the rural identity of the area began to give way to early suburban development. The growth of neighborhoods and the introduction of larger infrastructure marked the start of Wylie’s urbanization. However, the site for Taco Casa still remained largely undeveloped at this time.

2022: A Thriving Commercial Hub

The area surrounding the new Taco Casa location became a thriving commercial corridor by 2022. The Walmart Supercenter across State Highway 78 and various smaller businesses underscore the site’s transformation into a prime commercial destination.
