The land at 1602 E. Jefferson Blvd., Dallas, TX 75203, where Related Group’s Manor Oak Farms development is planned, carries a fascinating past. Before it was chosen for this $120 million project, it played host to Burnett Field. This site was home to one of Dallas’ most legendary baseball stadiums. But even before that, an earlier ballpark stood nearby —until it was tragically consumed by fire.
In 1924, Gardner Park II was constructed as a replacement for the original. The first Gardner Park burned down in 1919. This new stadium would later become Burnett Field in 1948. It served as the home of the Dallas Rangers and a training site for the Dallas Cowboys in 1960. However, in 1964, the stadium was closed and eventually demolished, leaving behind an open, mostly unused site for decades.
A New Vision for North Oak Cliff
Fast-forward to today, and the site is once again on the brink of transformation. Miami-based Related Group, known for its upscale residential projects, has chosen this historic spot for its first venture in Dallas. Manor Oak Farms is set to become a four-story, 400-unit apartment community. It will include a six-level parking garage, all designed to fit within North Oak Cliff’s evolving urban landscape.
