Building History

The building’s history reflects the area’s evolution. Originally constructed as an IHOP, it later housed Einstein Bros Bagels and, more recently, Lucky’s Hot Chicken. Hattie B’s retained the classic A-frame roof, blending nostalgic architecture with modern design elements.

The Oak Lawn neighborhood has transformed over the years. Once dominated by single-family homes in the 1950s, it has become a bustling urban area. The establishment of eateries like Hattie B’s highlights this shift, adding to the district’s vibrant culinary scene.

About Hattie B’s

Hattie B’s is renowned for its Nashville-style hot chicken, offering heat levels from mild to the fiery “Shut the Cluck Up!!!” The menu features bone-in pieces, tenders, sandwiches, and Southern sides like pimento mac & cheese and collard greens. Desserts such as banana pudding and peach cobbler are also available.

The restaurant provides seating for 78 guests inside and an additional 40 seats on the patio. The patio’s raised walls offer a sense of privacy amidst the lively surroundings. Ample on-site parking enhances convenience for visitors.

Operating hours are Monday through Thursday from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 10:45 a.m. to midnight.

This opening marks Hattie B’s second venture in Dallas, following the closure of its Deep Ellum location in August 2024. The new spot aims to continue serving flavorful hot chicken to both locals and visitors in the Oak Lawn area.
