A New Target is Replacing This Closed Utah Mall

The Cache Valley Mall, once a thriving hub in Logan, Utah, is undergoing a remarkable transformation. Located at 1300 Main St., Suite #100, Logan, UT 84341, the site will soon feature a 148,771-square-foot Target store, 346 multifamily residential units, and a 156-room hotel. While the mall officially closed on March 31, 2024, this redevelopment signals a new chapter for the area. The exact opening date for the new Target store has not been announced.

From Farmland to Modern Hub

The site where the Cache Valley Mall stands has a fascinating history. As seen in the 1959 aerial photograph, this area was once sprawling farmland. For years, agriculture dominated Logan’s landscape, shaping its identity as a rural community. This changed in 1976 with the opening of Cache Valley Mall, which brought retail prominence to the region. Anchored by stores like JCPenney, ZCMI, and Ernst Home Center, the mall became a central gathering point for decades. Despite efforts to adapt to changing retail trends, the mall struggled in its later years, closing in early 2024.

The new development, named Cache Valley Marketplace, is part of Logan’s ongoing evolution from its agricultural roots to a bustling, urbanized environment. This project blends retail, residential, and hospitality elements.
