Fifteen years after being opened, the Sonic on Miller road and Austins Parkway was demolished to make way for a new Chick-fil-A. This will be the first Chick-fil-A in the Flint, Michigan area. Construction is underway and the popular chicken sandwich restaurant is expected to open in the fall of this year.
Chick-fil-A was founded in Hapeville, Georgia back in 1946 and has over 2900 locations in the United States and Canada. It is considered to have some of the best customer services in the fast food industry which has helped to fuel its fast growth. Due to the founder’s Christian beliefs, Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Location History
Historic aerial images of this location go back to 1954, before any major development and Interstate 75. Sometime between 1957 and 1967, a T-shaped building appears on the site. It was eventually replaced by the demolished Sonic in 2008.
The first building appears on this site in the 1960s and was demolished sometime between 2006 and 2008.
Construction for the new Sonic was underway in 2008.
The Miller Road Sonic was closed in 2022 and demolished in March of 2023.
