The 7th Albertsons in Billings, Montana is almost ready to open for business. This new store is on the western end of Billings and a little over 3 miles from another Albertsons on the same road: Grand Avenue. The new Albertsons was built on an 8-acre undeveloped tract of land and is about 57,000 square feet. It is next to the Billings Fire Station 7 on 54th Street.
In 1939, Joe Albertsons opened its first store in Boise, Idaho, and was an enormous success. It became a public company in 1959 and has continued to expand into new states. Today, the company has over 2250 stores and is still based in Boise. In 2022 Kroger announced plans to merge with Albertsons by 2024. The merger has been challenged legally by multiple Attorneys General.
Location History
Historial aerial images of the area go back to 1951 when there was a small building on the southwest corner of the tract of land. The surrounding area was not developed until the early 2000s and new construction has continued.
