Location History

The Knights of Pythias

William Sidney Pittman, the first African-American architect in Dallas designed the building for the fraternal order The Knights of Pythias. He was the son-in-law of Booker T. Washington. The Pittman Hotel restored the building to it’s original look. In 1959, The Union Bankers Insurance Company acquired the building and in 1989 it was designated a Landmark by the city of Dallas.
