White Castle is finally making its way to Texas. The company announced it will open its first restaurant in the state at Grandscape in The Colony, with doors expected to open in summer 2026. The move marks a major expansion milestone for the 104-year-old chain, which has long stayed concentrated in the Midwest and Northeast.
Construction
The new restaurant will be built inside the massive Grandscape development, just off Sam Rayburn Tollway. Renderings show the familiar castle-style design that has defined the chain for decades. While the exact lot has not been confirmed, it will sit near the intersection of Grandscape Boulevard and Destination Drive, across from Portillo’s. About 80 to 100 jobs are expected to come with the opening, according to local reports.
Location
Grandscape has transformed The Colony over the past two decades. What was once open fields along Highway 121 is now a $1.5 billion retail and entertainment hub. The development is anchored by Nebraska Furniture Mart, the largest home furnishings store in the country. Major tenants like Scheels, Portillo’s, and several sit-down restaurants have added to the mix, turning the district into a regional destination. White Castle’s arrival brings another nationally recognized name to the lineup.

White Castle began in 1921 in Wichita, Kansas, when Billy Ingram and Walt Anderson introduced their small square sliders for five cents apiece. The company relocated its headquarters to Columbus, Ohio in 1934, where it still operates today. With roughly 350 locations, the chain is known for deliberate expansion. Similar strategies brought White Castle to Scottsdale in 2019 and Orlando in 2021. Its arrival in Texas follows that same cautious but high-impact approach.
