A New Target is Coming to Wildwood, Florida

A major retail addition is coming to Trailwinds Village in Wildwood, Florida, as Target prepares to open a 136,900-square-foot store in summer 2025. Located at 5580 Seven Mile Drive, this new store will sit next to Lowe’s, strengthening the area’s role as a key shopping destination.

A Growing Retail Hub

Trailwinds Village has rapidly developed over the past few years, attracting major retailers and restaurants. The upcoming Target will join a lineup that includes:

  • Lowe’s Home Improvement (opened 2018)
  • Publix (opened 2020)
  • ALDI
  • Starbucks
  • ABC Fine Wine & Spirits
  • Taco Bell, Wendy’s, Burger King
  • First Watch, Marco’s Pizza, Crumbl Cookies (coming soon)

With a Home Depot also under construction nearby at County Road 466A and Powell Road, Wildwood’s retail landscape continues to expand to meet demand from the growing population.

Wildwood, FL in 1994 – The future site of Trailwinds Village and the upcoming Target store was once open farmland along County Road 466A. This area has since transformed into a major retail hub.

Construction Progress and Opening Timeline

Originally projected for early 2025, updated job listings from Target’s website now confirm an expected opening in summer 2025. Construction is well underway, with recent photos showing concrete walls and site development progressing on schedule. Hiring for the store is expected to begin in the coming months.

Wildwood’s Transformation Over the Years

Looking back at aerial images from 2004, the site where Trailwinds Village now stands was primarily farmland and open space. By 2019, early commercial development had begun, but much of the area remained vacant. Now, in 2024, the landscape is completely different, with a dense mix of retail, restaurants, and residential communities catering to both Wildwood residents and The Villages, one of the fastest-growing retirement communities in the U.S.

Why This Target Matters

The addition of Target is a major milestone for the area. Not only will it provide more shopping convenience for locals, but it also reinforces Trailwinds Village as a regional retail hub. The store’s presence will likely attract more businesses and foot traffic, boosting the local economy and increasing property values.

What’s Next?

With construction progressing steadily, all eyes are on the official opening timeline. In the coming months, expect to see job postings, hiring events, and more site development as Target moves closer to welcoming shoppers.

Wildwood is changing fast, and the arrival of Target is another sign that this once-quiet area is now a booming retail destination.
