H-E-B’s New Melissa Store Nears Completion

H-E-B is building a 131,000-square-foot store at the northeast corner of U.S. 75 and Highway 121 in Melissa, Texas. This San Antonio-based chain broke ground in January 2024 at a site that was pure farmland in the 1950s, as shown by the earliest aerial images of the area. At that time, Texas State Highway 5 served as U.S. Route 75. A new route for U.S. 75 was established to the west in 1959.

This Google Earth image of the upcoming H-E-B location captures the area as it was in 1995 when Melissa had a population of 731.

Between 2017 and 2018, the nearby Buc-ee’s was completed, and since then, Melissa’s population has surged from about 9,000 to over 24,000 in 2024. This store is among the seven H-E-B locations slated to open in the DFW Metroplex, offering a wide range of popular products and services.
