The iconic Luby’s at 926 E. Highway 67 in Duncanville, Texas, which has remained vacant for some time, will soon undergo a major transformation. A new buffet-style restaurant, Empire Buffet, is slated for construction starting on November 17, 2024. The project is expected to be completed by August 2025 according to TDLR filings, bringing new life to this stretch of Highway 67.
Aerial images from the 1930s shows the area before it saw significant urban development. At the time, the surrounding land was largely undeveloped, marked by open fields and rural landscapes. Fast-forward to today, and the site is surrounded by modern establishments and busy highways, showcasing the rapid urbanization of Duncanville.
The new Empire Buffet will span over 11,830 square feet, featuring modern installations, including a gas line, electric setup, and a fully equipped air conditioning system. Once complete, this restaurant will likely serve as a dining hotspot for the local community and visitors traveling along Highway 67.
