A former Natural Grocers store at 120 S. Denton Tap Road, Suite 301, closed in 2023, but the location won’t stay vacant for long. The TDLR website reveals that Trader Joe’s is setting up shop here. The new store is coming to Town Oaks Centre, a shopping mall at the southeast corner of Shady Lake Road and Denton Tap Road in Coppell, Texas. Built in 1985, Town Oaks Centre was the area’s first significant commercial venture, as early aerial images from the late 1950s show.
Trader Joe’s started in 1958 in California as Pronto Market before renaming itself in 1967 after its founder, Joe Coulombe. The chain often picks locations where the median household income exceeds $100,000. The new store is expected to thrive in Coppell, where the median household income was over $140,000 in 2022. No opening date is currently posted on the company’s website.
