Construction is expected to begin this year for a new H-E-B supermarket in the northern part of Irving, Texas. The store will be located at the northwest corner of Olympus Blvd and LBJ Freeway (Interstate 635), in front of the former Fry’s Electronics building. The new H-E-B will join other big-box retailers like The Home Depot to the west and Walmart and Sam’s Club to the east enhancing this retail hub in the area.
Thanks to its location along LBJ Freeway, residents from Northwest Dallas, Farmers Branch, and Carrollton will have easy access to the new store. Construction is expected to be completed by 2026.
Aerial images dating back to the 1950s show this area was once farmland. The 1970s saw the introduction of Interstate 635, but significant development didn’t begin until the early 2000s, with The Home Depot opening in 2001 and Fry’s Electronics in 2002.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development.
