Fort Lauderdale, Florida, will soon have a new Publix store located at the southeast corner of North Federal Highway and 19th Street. The store sits within Bal Harbour Square shopping center, replacing the former H. H. Gregg, a retailer that specialized in consumer electronics and home appliances before going bankrupt and liquidating in 2017.
A portion of the old building, which has since been demolished, was once home to a Panera Bread location. Development at this site began in the 1960s, and over the years, the area has experienced significant change.
According to the company’s website, this new Publix will open on September 26. Publix, founded 94 years ago in Lakeland, Florida, now operates over 1,300 locations, with the majority in Florida and Georgia, and others spread across six additional southern states.
