A 43-Story Luxury Residential Tower Is Being Built On River Street In Austin

A 43-Story luxury residential tower named 700 River, is under construction on River Street in Austin, Texas. The tower will have 400,000 square feet of space with 377 apartment units. It is being built a walking distance from the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center along the Colorado River. High Street Residential is the developer and the development is expected to be complete by the end of 2024.

700 River is being built in the historic Rainey Street district in the southeast corner of downtown Austin. It is one of the fastest-growing areas in Austin. The oldest aerial images of this site date back to the early 1950s and show the area with mostly freestanding suburban homes. In 2004 it was rezoned as part of Austin’s central business district to encourage development.
